June 2nd, 1899 . . .

The Wild Bunch, including Butch Cassidy, robbed a Union Pacific Overland
Flyer train near Wilcox, Wyoming on June 2,1899, using dynamite to blow
up a safe and steal over $50,000.


“The Rawlins Semi-Weekly Republican reported that after placing
excessive charge on the safe, they wrecked the car, blowing the roof off
and sides out, portions of the car being blown 150 yards.”


Granted that there’s never been a proven connection, however, the
excessive size of the second dynamite charge, may have ear-marked
Dynamite Dan’s involvement or “influence” in one way or another.


We’ll leave it to you, the reader . . .
